INTERACTIVE INFOGRAPHIC

INTERACTIVE INFOGRAPHIC

The first goal of this project was to create a static data visualization (see below) based off a unique dataset that I composed. The dataset contains information regarding my chosen topic, natural plant remedies. After researching 100 plants, I then recorded seven different characterstics about each plant; genus, main organ of benefit, main benefit, native location, color, part of plant used, and price. After organizing all the data, I created a system, through the use of icons and elemental details, to visually display each piece of information in a way that could be mocked up for interactive use on a website.

The goal of this second part of the project was to reimagine what an informational website could be, since many informational sites are in the form of non-interactive lists or articles. This interactive tool I created allows users to easily search for specifics based on their personal needs or browse all 100 plants. Through each step of the process; data collection, landscape analysis, wireframing, static visual, user flow, style guide, and visual compositions, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of how users will interact with my interface and how important it is for those interactions to be positive and impactful.

One main takeaway I have from this project is that good design is not just something that is visually appealing, but is also the creation of a meaningful relationship between the person and the product.
